I am professor at the University of Groningen, and work on philosophical, political, and economic aspects of information, such as epistemic injustice, the ethics of belief, motivated belief, fake news, virtue epistemology, and stereotypes, with applications in economics, finance (financial ethics, financial literacy), health care, and ICT, among others. Currently, I’m finishing a monograph entitled Freedom of Business: An Essay in Social Epistemology (Oxford University Press, 2020, under contract). With Alex Oliver (Cambridge) I directed a research programme on trust and finance, and with Miranda Fricker (CUNY), I am directing a programme on epistemic justice in finance and health care), both financed by the Dutch Research Council (NWO).
